This unassuming Ebel 1911 chronograph is something of a sleeper among Swiss chronographs, as it displays all the characteristics of high end Swiss watch making, yet can be had for a bargain price.

A pedigreed in-house "manufacture" chronometer-grade, 27-jewel column-wheel chronograph movement. Designed by Gerald Genta (designer of the Patek Philippe Nautilus, Audemars-Piguet Royal Oak and Omega Constellation Manhattan). Meticulous workmanship including hand-rubbed satin finish. The watch features Ebels esteemed in-house COSC chronometer certified Caliber 137 automatic chronograph movement. As an example of the traits that placed Ebel among the top tier of Swiss watch makers in the view of industry insiders, Ebel developed and began producing their own high quality in-house chronograph movement over a decade before Omega and Breitling began developing their own in-house chronograph movements.

Ebel started with the Lemania 1340, a well-respected column wheel chronograph movement, also used as the basis for the Omega 1040 and Breguets Type XX caliber. Redesigned the winding mechanism, reworked the chronograph train, increasing the jewel count from 22 to 27, and built it to COSC chronometer standards as their Caliber 137 which was introduced in1995. 137/139 as the basis of Ulysse Nardins first in-house chronograph movement, the UN-150. This unique chronograph is set in a stainless steel monocoque case with a width of 40 mm and height of 11 mm. The modest size of the case (compared to competitors) and Genta's sculpted design make the Ebel 1911 exceptionally comfortable on the wrist.

The black easy-to-read Pilot-style dial features chronograph registers for 30 minutes, 12 hours, sub-seconds, stopwatch seconds at center, white stick hour/minute hands and is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective coating. The back is secured with eight screws, and has a sapphire display window revealing the Ebel Caliber 137 movement, decorated with. On the rotor and top plates and perlage on the bottom plate.

The watch is fitted with its original Ebel stainless bracelet, which with included extra links will easily and 8 inch wrist. The watch is in very good pre-owned condition, the movement runs strong and it keeps good time. The watch comes complete with its original box, Ebel suede travel pouch and Ebel manual.
